I hope my wife doesn’t read this, but I’ve enjoyed vacuuming my house while testing the Proscenic cordless stick vacuum, the OptClean P12. We have a pair of dogs who shed, so it’s not unheard of to vacuum daily. And with other vacuums we have, it is a chore. With the P12, it’s easy, and the dogs think it’s a new toy to chase me around.

The first thing I noticed while using the P12 is how easy it is to maneuver. While using the handheld upright vacuum, it lets you quickly go left, right, backward and forward. The anti-tangle roller (9.84-by-4.13-by-2.36 inches) has 180-degree swivel steering and 90 degrees up and down to get any angle. With a height of just over 2 inches, it’s easy to get under the edges of furniture, tables and hard-to-reach corners.
[–>
A 2,500 mAh battery snaps onto the bottom of the handle for power and 60 minutes of vacuuming in the quiet mode and 13 minutes in the max. An AC power adapter is included, which plugs into the side of the battery. Charging can be done with the battery on or off. Proscenic currently does not have plans to sell extra batteries.
[–>
A trigger is on the handle for starting, stopping and changing modes. On top of the handle is an all-in-one LED screen displaying the battery level, suction mode and warnings, including a dust full alarm and a clogged floor brush.
[–>
The anti-tangle roller makes it an easy transition from hardwood floors to carpet or vice versa. It produces 33 kPa of strong suction leading to a five-stage filtration system. On the front of the roller is a built-in green shining Vertect Light, a small row consisting of six LEDs. The light helps to see small particles, dust and debris that are invisible to the naked eye.
[–>
The green lights help you see what has to be vacuumed. It worked well on carpets, but their most significant advantage was hardwood floors in low-light rooms. This way, the light magnified the dirt, showing how much you need to vacuum.
[–>
Inside the roller is an internal comb to help reduce any longer hair picked up from tangling. If the roller does get tangled up, it’s easy to remove for cleaning. A lock button holds it in place, and when pressed, it will release. Then it can be cleaned, washed and dried before snapping back in.

Putting the 4.18-pound OptClean P12 together shows the versatility of all the included parts and pieces. A retractable telescopic dust pipe is adjustable from 48.22 inches down to 38.97 inches, depending on how tall you want it. Or it can be removed and turned into a handheld vacuum with the included vacuum tools (a long crevice nozzle and a 2-in-1 crevice nozzle). Instantly after converting it, I used it to vacuum my car with great success.
[–>
Everything picked up gets sucked into the five-stage filtration system in the handle. The system consists of cyclonic dust separation and two HEPA filters to capture 99.99% of dust particles and then expels nonallergenic purified air.
[–>
When you’re finished, emptying the 40-ounce dustbin is simple; assuming you have the handle over a trash can, with a one-button press it opens to let the contents fall straight down. Inside is a removable HEPA filter, which can be pulled out, cleaned with running water, dried and put back in.
[–>
A wall bracket for hanging the Proscenic OptClean P12 is included, with posts on top to hold the two accessories. Charging can be done while hanging, as long as a power outlet is nearby.
