Stop Using Jira: Why It’s Killing Collective Creativity

Why We Need to Talk About Jira and the Creativity Crisis

In the modern tech landscape, Jira is more than just a project management tool; it is an institution. For many software engineers, product managers, and designers, the blue-and-white interface is the first thing they see in the morning and the last thing they update before signing off. It has become the “industry standard” for Agile development. However, a growing movement of developers and creative thinkers is starting to voice a painful truth: Jira is the death of collective creativity.

New streaming app to ‘Max’ programming from HBO, Discovery

Warner Bros. Discovery unveiled a streaming service Wednesday combining iconic HBO programming such as “The Sopranos” with a mix of unscripted TV series in a push to reap more subscribers from what so far has been a muddled media merger.

The $16-per-month service, called Max, will be released May 23 in the US and automatically replaces the company’s existing HBO Max service in what is being promised as a seamless transition. Max will gradually become available in the rest of the world, with Latin America next up on the slate.

The existing Discovery Plus app featuring reality and unscripted series

Comments in Code are a Sign of Failure, Not Clarity

In the world of software development, there is a long-standing myth passed down from CS 101 professors to junior developers: “Good code is well-commented code.” For decades, we have been told that a proliferation of green text in our IDE is a sign of a diligent, thoughtful programmer. However, as software engineering has matured into a craft, the industry’s leaders—most notably Robert C. Martin in Clean Code—have proposed a more radical truth: Comments are often a sign of failure.

The core of this argument is not that communication is …

TOKYO (AP) — Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida was evacuated unharmed after an explosion at a western port on Saturday, NHK television reported, and a suspect was apprehended for apparently throwing the explosive.

Kishida was visiting the Saikazaki port in Wakayama prefecture to cheer his ruling party’s candidate in a local election. The explosion occurred just before he was to begin his speech, NHK said. No injuries were reported in the incident and Kishida was taken to Wakayama prefectural police headquarters, it added.

The incident comes only nine months after former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was assassinated while delivering a

The Industry’s Obsession with Scale is Killing Real Innovation

The Scaling Paradox: Why Bigger Isn’t Always Better

In the modern boardroom, “scale” is the ultimate buzzword. Whether you are a venture-backed startup in Silicon Valley or a legacy enterprise in London, the mandate is clear: grow fast, automate everything, and reach the widest possible audience in the shortest amount of time. But as the cult of scalability tightens its grip on the global economy, a quiet crisis is unfolding. Real, transformative innovation—the kind that shifts paradigms and solves fundamental human problems—is being sacrificed at the altar of expansion.

Eight images that show the new AI software’s process of “unblurring.” To remove the effects of Earth’s atmosphere from an image, the process pushes the starting image through eight layers of network, generating eight intermediate images. The earliest image is at the top left, and the final image is at the bottom right.

While we’re big fans of Earth’s atmosphere for keeping us alive, it does hamper our ability to take crystal-clear images of deep space.

That’s why Emma Alexander of Northwestern University in Illinois and Tianao Li of Tsinghua University in Beijing have developed new AI-powered software that can

Integrating BIM Technology for Zero-Error Construction

BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a process that involves the creation and management of a 3D digital representation of a building’s physical and functional characteristics. This model allows you to create a shared data environment that links everyone who’s involved in the project within one area, so they can all manage it at the same time. It gives construction professionals better coordination, which allows them to better plan costs, scheduling and decision making.

This guide will explore how you can integrate BIM technology to achieve zero-error construction, which can save you money and time on projects. Continue reading to learn …

The Great Rebranding: Why ‘DevOps’ is Often Just a Label for Underpaid Sysadmins

In the early 2010s, a movement promised to break down the silos between software development and IT operations. It was called DevOps. It wasn’t supposed to be a job title; it was a culture, a philosophy, and a way of working that emphasized automation, communication, and shared responsibility. Fast forward to today, and “DevOps Engineer” is one of the most common titles on LinkedIn.

However, many veterans in the industry are calling foul. They argue that the …
